Civil society is the community of people who are not indifferent

«The purpose of conducting the Social Week is a desire to bring social values to the attention of the faithful. We are living from day to day, are in hurry, from morning to night are busy with different affairs, and we do not have time to think about other people. Such a week should stop us so we may think,» said His Beatitude Lubomyr, the head of UGCC, to the Information Department. According to the head of the UGCC, this year we have to bring to practical life reconciliation, which is a gift of God (the slogan of Social Week 2009: «Reconciliation as a gift of God»), so that I and other people may use this gift of God and to cooperate with Him.

The Social Week of the UGCC is called to bring attention to the problems of education and science, the needs of the mentally ill and imprisoned, orphans, to support those who every day resolve social problems and to learn from their experience. «This Social Week has to become one of the elements of developing the civil society. In fact the civil society is the community of people who are not indifferent to each other, people who live and think about the society, and not only about themselves,» stated the head of the UGCC.
