Social Week of the UGCC
 From October 31 to November 6, 2009, in Kyiv, for the second time after the proclamation of independence, the Social Week of the UGCC will be held. The Social Week of the UGCC is a traditional public forum for the discussion of problems of society and to maintain Christian, religious, and human values.
The theme of this year’s Social Week: Reconciliation as a Gift of God. Being based on the centenary tradition of similar events in the world, the Social Week of UGCC is called to bring attention to: the problems of education and science; people with the mental illnesses and imprisoned, orphans; to support those, who every day work on resolving social problems and to learn on their experience; to stimulate the conduction of research, discussions, and actions – individually and in a group, and also at the level of the state.

With the participation of the head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Lubomyr, Archbishop Ivan Yurkovych, Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Yaakov Dov Bleich, and official representatives of other churches and religions.

17:00-19:00 – Spiritual reflections on the theme of reconciliation. Conducted by Fr. Marco Blyaza, PhD, Jesuit, professor, pro-rector of Saint Boboli University (Warsaw).

With the participation of His Beatitude Lubomyr, the head of the UGCC, Victor Elenskyj (PhD of philosophy, president of the Ukrainian Association of Religious Freedom, leading researcher of the Institute of Philosophy of NANU), Oleksandra Gnatyuk (professor of the Warsaw University, leader of Department of Ukrainian Literature of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Science, consultant on questions of culture and science of the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine), Oleksandra Hrytsenko (director of the Ukrainian center of cultural research, honored worker of the arts of Ukraine).
