We are living from day to day, are in hurry, from morning to night are busy with different affairs, and we do not have time to think about other people. Such a week should stop us so we may think,» said His Beatitude Lubomyr, the head of UGCC, to the Information Department. According to the head of the UGCC, this year we have to bring to practical life reconciliation, which is a gift of God (the slogan of Social Week 2009: «Reconciliation as a gift of God»), so that I and other people may use this gift of God and to cooperate with Him.

According to Deacon Ihor Shaban, the head of Commission of the UGCC for assistance of unity between the Christians, it is very important that the society remembers the Ukrainian martyrs and values those gifts which the Lord gives us today. «The memory of events at the level of the Holodomor is a nation creation element, it underlines the fundamental value which unites the society, which connects us with the past, without which the unified state organism can not be formed, not today, not in the future» believes His Beatitude Lubomyr, the head of the UGCC. 13.11.2009 17:34:00Social Week of the UGCC  From October 31 to November 6, 2009, in Kyiv, for the second time after the proclamation of independence, the Social Week of the UGCC will be held. The Social Week of the UGCC is a traditional public forum for the discussion of problems of society and to maintain Christian, religious, and human values. The theme of this year’s Social Week: Reconciliation as a Gift of God. Being based on the centenary tradition of similar events in the world, the Social Week of UGCC is called to bring attention to: the problems of education and science; people with the mental illnesses and imprisoned, orphans; to support those, who every day work on resolving social problems and to learn on their experience; to stimulate the conduction of research, discussions, and actions – individually and in a group, and also at the level of the state.
